As a child born in the early 90s, I didn’t get to experience the NES wave of certain game series, one in particular being the original Mega Man series. Instead, I grew up playing Mega Man X, and I loved those games, largely attributed to the futuristic setting, badass looking characters, and the amazing soundtrack. A couple of years ago, to feed my nostalgia, I picked up the Mega Man X Collection on the PS2 which includes Mega Man X through Mega Man X6. The collection is great, but obviously it doesn’t look so hot on a modern TV.
Well Capcom, following suit with the recent releases of Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2, decided to give X a much needed facelift. Mega Man X Legacy Collection will include Mega Man X-X4, the holy grails of the series, and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 will include Mega Man X5-X8, the not…so…holy grails of the series. Both games will be in 1080p, have added trophy/achievement support, a music and image galleries, and a 30-minute OVA called “The Day of Sigma.” Both game will be released on July 24th for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch for $20 a piece, and for me, they are easily going to be day one pick ups. The second collection is a throw away, but the PS2 games included are a tad expensive on their own, so it’s worth it based on that alone. Otherwise, the first collection is a must have for any fan of the cybernetic blue bomber.
